Homeschooling can be such an amazing time for your family. For most families this mainly involves the mother teaching the children while the husband is away from work. If this is the case for your family (as it is mine), then here are some really great tips to get Dad involved in the homeschool!
*Let Dad help with the subjects that he is good at. If he is good at math, then let him help with the math lessons. Maybe he likes science? Dad can do some really fun science experiments with the kids on the weekend. For us, my husband is good at math and he rather enjoys it. He is doing short evening lessons with kiddo using Dave Ramsey’s kit for kids.
*Have Dad ask them about what they have learned for their lessons today. Your kids will light up and be excited to tell him about what they have mastered that day. Our kiddo gets super excited about showing Dad what he can read now. (He’s 5 and just learning to read).
*Let Dad cook with the kids! This is one of my favorites! It gives me a night off from dinner every once in a while! Cooking is a great skill for kids to learn and there is a lot of math involved as well. It is a great hands on lesson and a great bonding experience for him and Dad!
*Take a nature walk and let Dad take the lead about what to explore! Nothing like learning about nature than getting right in the middle of it! Maybe get a nature book and journal. It will make a wonderful memory and keepsake!
There are many ways to get Dad involved in the homeschool. It’s great for both for both of them and creates extra bonding time. I also believe that Dad will really enjoy those “ah-ha” moments on the kids faces when they “get it”!
