How to fit homeschooing into your life

Making Time For Homeschool

Let’s face it, homeschooling can take up a lot time. Just planning out your lessons can take up a good chunk of your time. You can spend a good 2-4 hours a day homeschooling your children depending on age. So how do you fit homeschooling into your day along with all of your other responsibilities?

Learn how you can easily fit homeschooling into your daily life!Pick the best time of day for your family.

Thankfully with homeschooling you can pretty much set your own homeschooling hours. I know many people feel that they have to do their lessons first thing every single morning. For some this may be the best option, but for others it might not be. If you think you will do better doing lessons after lunch, then by all means do so! Same thing goes for those who think homeschooling would be best right before dinner. Find a time that works best for your family and run with it! There is no right or wrong time of day to homeschool your kids.

Have kids do chores.

This can save a lot of time and save yourself a lot of sanity! It’s hard to get everything done by yourself. There is so much to do and with the kids home all day you need to figure out a routine that is going to work. Create a set list of chores that you expect each child to complete every day. Try to do the chores at the same time everyday to help develop routing and habit. This will help take some stress off of your back and teach your children valuable life skills in the process.

Buy a boxed curriculum.

Now, I’ve never been a fan of boxed curriculum, but I have since changed my mind. I have done all of my homeschool lesson plans myself for the last two years and it is tiresome to say the least! What I like about boxed curriculum is that it is all planned out for you. No more late nights planning and going through long check lists! The best boxed curriculum that I have found is by Timberdoodle. I especially like this one because you can customize it to fit your child’s needs. The downside with this company is the price. It’s very expensive, but if you can save up throughout the year it is manageable. You can also reuse some of the items in the kit and just buy a “refill” kit for your other children.

These are just a few simple tricks to fit homeschooling into your day. What are your best tips and advice?
