What is Kindergarten Prep?
Basically, it’s taking the steps to prepare your child for kindergarten. This can be through learning activities, emotional activities, social prep…you name it. Anything that you can do to mentally and emotionally prepare your child for starting school can be considered kindergarten prep.
What do kids learn in pre-k?
Actually, they learn a lot of the same stuff that they’re going to be going over in kindergarten, but they are first introduced to it in pre-k. This can be letters, numbers, colors, you name it…and then once they graduate from pre-k and head on to kindergarten, they’ll fine-tune their skills even more and continue to build on their learning.
Should my child read before kindergarten?
Let’s just remember that every child is different and learns at their own pace. If your child is reading before starting kindergarten, that’s awesome. And if they’re not, that’s fine as well. Each child learns at a different pace and will more than likely pick up a lot of skills once they start kindergarten. It’s amazing how many kids put together all the pieces of the puzzle once they are in a school setting.
